Our students are both members of the Paul Penna DJDS community as well as integral members of the wider MNjcc community. There are many programs and services through which families can find enrichment, wellness, and social connection through access to this broader community.
Aftercare and MNjcc Programs
In addition to a licensed Aftercare program if your child requires care from 3:45 pm–5:30 pm and School’s Out program for PD days and during the Winter Break and other holidays, the MNjcc offers a number of programs. Swimming lessons, pottery classes, floor hockey, basketball, martial arts classes, the Suzuki Music School, Groove Dance lessons, and much more are offered at the MNjcc. One of the many benefits of being housed in the MNjcc is that school families have full access to these many engaging and cultural programs offered at the MNjcc.
Facilities
Lower School
Our lower school (JK to Grade 5) is located within the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (MNjcc) at the corner of Bloor and Spadina and is easy to get to by walking, biking, public transportation, and driving. Being in the MNjcc gives students access to the pool and the gymnasium. Twice a day, students have recess on the rooftop playground. As well, Paul Penna DJDS has a longstanding relationship with the University of Toronto to use their field behind the school for lunch recess. We also host many assemblies and shows in the Al Green Theatre, including our annual Chanukah concerts and Middle School musical.
Middle School
Our fully accessible state-of-the-art Middle School (Grades 6–8) is located steps away from and just south of the lower school at 720 Spadina Avenue. Purpose built with lockers, a state of the art science lab, and an Arts & Innovation Studio, it is the perfect place for community gatherings, art classes and theatre practice. Private rental outside of school hours of these facilities is available, contact cfine@djds.ca to inquire.
Transit and Parking
For families coming to school by public transit, the Spadina TTC subway stop is across the street.
During dropoff and pickup times, we have an arrangement with the nearby Metro to use their parking lot at designated hours of the day.
