Ava Roth
Ava Roth has an academic background, with master’s degrees in urban studies and history from New York University and University of Toronto, yet her career has largely been spent in the world of art. She has worked as an embroidery and mixed-media artist in Toronto for over a decade, working on commission and showing her pieces in group and solo shows at the C1 Gallery. In 2008, Ava focused her creative talents on the emerging field of 'culinary art', spending a year apprenticing with a top wedding cake designer. She launched her custom cake business, Rostin Cake Co., in 2009, focusing on delicious and unique cakes for special occasions and weddings. Rostin Cake Co. cakes have been featured in Wedding Bells and Cake Central magazines. Since 2010, Ava has been teaching Painting on Cakes at the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Art. Ava has two kids at the Paul Penna DJDS, and a third child joining the SK class in Sept. 2011. Her father, Stephen J. Roth was a dedicated member of the Paul Penna DJDS board and her two nieces also attend the school.
